Bing not indexing my site. How do I get Bing to index my site?
Let me start by addressing my website issue:
I submitted domain A to Bing Webmaster back in January, but domain A has not been indexed by Bing. Instead, another domain B, which I later used a 301 redirect to point to domain A, has now caused both domains to disappear from Bing's search results.
After struggling for two to three months and trying various methods (such as 301 redirects and forum feedback), I finally found a solution and successfully resolved the issue!
Here are the steps to resolve it:
1. Log in to Bing Webmaster (https://www.bing.com/webmasters/) and submit your website.
This should be straightforward for everyone.
2. Open the URL Inspection page (https://www.bing.com/webmasters/urlinspection), enter your website address, and click "Inspect."
Wait for one or two minutes, and you'll get the results, which could be one of the following:
- Result 1: The best outcome—successfully indexed and appearing in the results.
- Result 2: Found but not crawled.
The message indicates that Bing can recognize the URL but encountered issues preventing indexing.
It suggests following Bing Webmaster Guidelines to increase indexing chances.
3. How to resolve "Found but not crawled"?
First, click "Request Indexing" and wait for Bing to index your site.
If it hasn't been indexed after a few days, use the ultimate method: form feedback.4. How to fill out the feedback form? Feedback entry point (https://www.bing.com/webmasters/support). Side note: this entry point is really hard to find. After opening the feedback form, follow these steps:
- (1) Enter your name (doesn't matter much; use English).
- (2) Select the domain with indexing issues (make sure not to choose the wrong one).
- (3) Choose "Indexing."
- (4) Select "My site is not in index."
- (5) Make sure to check "Yes" for this step.
- (6) Clearly describe the issue you're facing, being as detailed as possible.
- (7) Enter the captcha.
- (8) Click "Get Help" button.
You'll typically receive an email within 24 hours.
For example, I submitted on April 26th, and when I checked the URL Inspection page today (April 30th), the previously red section had turned green, as shown below:
The SEO issues mentioned below are only relevant after your website has been indexed and are unrelated to the "Found but not crawled" status.
